Fernando Jaeger says, "I am inspired by examples of good design. For example, the Bauhaus school, Mies Van der Rohe, Charles Eames and the Nordic school of the 40s. I also find inspiration in techniques and craftsmanship from the old school, bring back solutions and features such as wood shop and inlays that have been forgotten by many factories because of new technologies. Since I was a kid, I liked airplanes, cars and motorcycles, and these influenced me as a designer. I also like Brazilian and electronic music, plastic art and movies."

 

Each piece of Brastilo furniture is crafted to the highest standards by beginning with the finest materials, whether its sustainable pine or aged bamboo from the town of Frei Rogerio. In manufacturing, Brastilo employs time honored woodworking processes and time consuming finger joint techniques to create furniture that is fully finished on all sides with the highest quality stains, fabrics and hardware. The Brastilo furniture line uses high grade materials that are also renewable and eco-friendly. The wood products used in the manufacture of Brastilo furnishings come entirely from specially planted and managed forests located in the south of Brazil in the states of Santa Catarina, Parana and Rio Grande do Sul. Brastilo is proud of the recognition that they have received for eco-friendly initiatives. In fact, their parent company recently became one of the first Brazilian companies awarded carbon credits under the Kyoto Protocol, an important achievement and one that underscores their commitment to protecting the environment in everything they do.
