You would be hard pressed to find a straight line or right angle in Ron Arad's work, and the Voido rocking chair is a perfect example. looking like a slightly warped marshmallow. The Voido is light years away from granny's stiff-backed rocking chair. Made of polyethylene, the chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Magis is the brand that has given a novel twist to domestic design, building its identity on incorporating leading edge technology into mass production. Founded in 1976 in the bustling north eastern corner of Italy by a newcomer to the furniture business, Eugenio Perazza, Magis is today a giant international design laboratory that constantly puts itself to the test, seeking technological sophistication and employing a highly diversified workforce.

Magis seizes the day. It embraces the creativity of leading global designers (Richard Sapper, Jasper Morrison, Stefano Giovannoni, Marc Newson, James Irvine, Konstantin Grcic, Ron Arad, the Bouroullecs and many others) and channels it towards objects perched on the cutting edge. The company even earned kudos from the trendsetter's bible, Wallpaper, which placed Perazza on top of its list of Ten who will change the way we live.

Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv 1951, son of painter mother and photographer father. First success with a range of furniture and interior structures in tube and cast iron fittings. Well known pieces include the Rover Chair, the vacuum-packed Transformer chair and the remote controlled Aerial light. Later work explored the use of tempered steel, first in the Well-Tempered Chair and later in the popular Bookworm. Ron Arad Studio established in Como in 1994 to continue and expand on the production studio pieces as previously produced in the London workshops. Installations for L'Esprit du Nomade, Fondation Cartier, Paris and The Domus Totem for the Trienale in Milan.
